Title : Role of Artificial Intelligence in drug discovery
Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool in drug discovery, significantly reducing the time, cost, and complexity associated with traditional pharmaceutical research. From a pharmacy perspective, AI applications span multiple stages of drug development, including target identification, lead discovery, optimization, preclinical evaluation, and clinical trial design. Machine learning and deep learning algorithms enable efficient analysis of large chemical and biological datasets, allowing accurate prediction of drug–target interactions, pharmacokinetic behavior, and toxicity profiles. AI also supports drug repurposing and personalized medicine by integrating genomic, proteomic, and clinical data, thereby improving therapeutic outcomes and patient safety. In addition, AI-driven tools assist in formulation development and decision-making processes, enhancing efficiency in pharmaceutical research and development. Despite its advantages, challenges such as data reliability, ethical concerns, regulatory acceptance, and integration into existing workflows persist. This abstract highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in drug discovery from a pharmacy viewpoint, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize pharmaceutical sciences and improve healthcare outcomes.
