On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to PDDS-2026 in Rome. We are delighted to bring together scientists and innovators from around the world to discuss the cutting edge of pharmaceutical and drug discovery research.

For centuries, Rome served as a focal point where scholars, physicians, and ideas from across the ancient world converged. Among them was Galen, who practiced medicine in Rome and later served as physician to the emperor Marcus Aurelius. Treating gladiators and studying physiology, Galen described complex medicinal preparations—mixtures of botanical and mineral ingredients that shaped pharmacy for centuries. This tradition built on the foundations of earlier medical writers such as Pedanius Dioscorides, whose De Materia Medica cataloged hundreds of medicinal plants, and Aulus Cornelius Celsus, who recorded the classic signs of inflammation—rubor, calor, tumor, and dolor—still recognized in medicine today.

In its own way, this meeting continues that long tradition: gathering diverse expertise to transform biological insight into new therapeutic possibilities. We hope PDDS-2026 will spark new ideas, collaborations, and discoveries.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is an honor, to welcome you on behalf of the Scientific Committee to the 13th Edition of Global Conference on Pharmaceutics and Novel Drug Delivery Systems (PDDS-2026), which will be held in hybrid format from September 14-16, 2026, Rome, Italy. PDDS-2026 will address advancing pharmaceutics from formulation to patient impact, thereby shaping the future of healthcare. The congress will share cutting-edge research, and explore transformative practices. The event emphasizes novel drug delivery platforms, nanocarriers, and targeted therapies to formulation strategies, biopharmaceutics, and translational research. PDDS-2026 will focus on innovative methodologies for improving drug efficacy, safety, and patient compliance. That way, we will advance patient-centered care delivery through new technologies as well as integrative and evidence-based approaches in the context of the ongoing transformation of health and social care ecosystem. Thereby, we have to integrate research, technology, pharmaceutical research and development personalized care, based on the latest advancements and inventive approaches. The healthcare paradigm advanced from empiric and phenomenological through evidence-based and person-centered medicine to personalized, preventive, predictive, participative precision medicine (P5M). Thereby, we must consider and understand the individual health status, conditions and genetic and genomic dispositions in personal social, occupational, environmental and behavioral context at any level from elementary particles up to society and universe. This requires the inclusion of actors from multiple domains as well as the subject of care with their own methodologies, languages, ontologies, education and skills. I have developed the model and framework for managing integration and interoperability in such highly complex, dynamic, context-aware, multi-disciplinary transformed healthcare ecosystem, meanwhile standardized in ISO 23903. Because of its formal and foundational nature, the methodology is not restricted to health and social care, but has been successfully deployed already in many other domains, such as pharmaceutical research and development, nanotechnology, environmental sciences, education, etc. Welcoming you in Rome, I’m sure that this conference will provide an excellent platform to discuss trends, innovations, and best practices in Pharmaceutics and Novel Drug Delivery Systems, thereby shaping the future of healthcare, healthcare technologies and practices, research and education.
