Title : Precision diagnostics: Effectiveness of innovative imaging technologies for early detection of lung cancers

Abstract:

Diagnosis of lung cancer often occurs in its later disease stage. The prognosis for long term survival for patients with lung cancer is very poor. Early detection of lung cancers can be associated with a reduction in mortality and an improvement in patients’ health-related quality of life. Much research has been devoted to develop innovative imaging technologies for early detection of lung cancers with the aim of improving patients’ overall survival. The advanced imaging medical device technologies offer great potential for more effective screening of lung cancers in large populations. This talk will discuss cancer screening programmes for early detection of lung cancers and the effectiveness of innovative imaging medical device technologies for lung cancer screening in large populations.
